Site: Industrial Office Space
A very impersonal and industrial 1100 square foot white box with windows at one end. This space is located in a large industrial building in San Francisco, CA.

Design Objectives: Setting a Mood
How do color and lighting create possibilities for the inhabitants of an "office" space? How can the complex and varied activities of a life coach with her clients fit together in one open space and also provide distinct areas for each activity?

Solution: Go with Who you Are
Our main role in the design, construction, and furnishing of this office space was to coach the life coach (believe it or not). She embodies her practices completely, and only needed a structure in which she could make the decisions she already wanted to make. Klopf Architecture provided facilitation and reflection, and of course handled all the drawings and had our hand in dealing with the contractors.

Warmth: It was important to bring warm colors and human-scale lighting and furniture into this space. The reds and umbers offset with natural wood and as much daylight as possible through the end windows create a homey feeling in which it is easy to relax and open oneself to the possibilities that coaching can help one envision.

Possibilities: Each area of the office is dedicated to a different aspect of coaching: seated discussion, somatic movement, artwork and other creative pursuits, etc. The lighting and furniture for each space indicate the individual uses while still aorking together to create a unified office.
