John Klopf is a licensed architect and member of the AIA with over fourteen years in the field. He is Principal of Klopf Architecture, which he founded in 2001. John lives, along with his wife and their two young sons, in San Francisco's Mission District. He was born in Cleveland Ohio, and is a graduate of both Harvard and Berkeley. While at Berkeley, he won a competitive travel fellowship for nine months of independent architectural study in Japan and Europe.

In addition to practicing architecture, John also teaches design and has researched sustainability in architecture. He currently teaches at USF (the University of San Francisco) as an adjunct professor, and has taught introductory design classes and managed a major research project for the architecture department at Berkeley.

John's professional practice focusses on sustainability and residential projects.

Barbara Shands, Architect
Barbara Shands is a licensed architect with over ten years in the field. She lives in San Francico with her husband and young daughter. She has taught elementary school children at LEAP and participated with Habitat for Humanity. She enjoys tennis, jogging, yoga, reading, and knitting.

Barbara's professional practice focusses on integrating the design concept for each project into all levels of the design, from the parti to the construction detail.
